# DAQ-M User Manual

The DAQ-M is a modular, radiometrically calibrated spectroradiometer containing a long-lasting battery, internal memory storage and a Bluetooth (BLE) radio for communication. Its integrated, cosine-corrected spectroradiometer records the changing ambient light spectrum from **340 – 1010 nm** as **135 measurements** (one every 5 nm) in absolute irradiance units (**W/m²·nm**). The DAQ-M also contains a USB port for recharging its removable Li-ion battery, a green/red LED status indicator and a power on/off switch.

The DAQ-M contains the same radiometrically calibrated light sensor as the [DAQ-U](/daq/daq-u/daq-u-user-manual.md) (USB-C) and [DAQ-E](/daq/daq-e/daq-e-user-manual.md) (Ethernet) — the DAQ-M is the wireless, battery-powered variant with onboard storage, so it can measure untethered and log to its own memory. All three models produce the same `.daq` data, so downstream processing is identical.

## Radiometric Calibration

Every DAQ-M ships with a unique, per-unit radiometric calibration certificate ([view an example](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0878/4732/files/daq-m_example_calibration_certificate.pdf?v=1783033670)). Chloros downloads that unit's calibration from the MAPIR Cloud and applies it to every measurement. After the factory calibration the spectrometer never needs to be recalibrated, keeping wavelength-to-wavelength measurements consistent regardless of the intensity of the changing ambient light.

## Capturing Data

There are two ways to record with the DAQ-M:

* **SCANNER app (mobile)** — connect over Bluetooth from your phone or tablet to name units, adjust settings, view measurements live, and record single or interval measurements to the DAQ-M's internal memory. This is the primary field workflow.
* **Chloros (desktop)** — connect the DAQ-M over Bluetooth to a Windows or Linux computer to stream and record alongside DAQ-U / DAQ-E sensors and MAPIR cameras.

## SCANNER Application

Using our [MAPIR SCANNER](/daq/daq-m/scanner-application.md) application on your mobile device you can connect to any nearby DAQ-M. The SCANNER application allows you to assign unique names to each DAQ-M, adjust the sensor settings, view measurements in real time, record individual measurements, schedule time-lapse / interval measurements and save measurements to your mobile device for later processing.
