# Caps & Mounting

## Caps

The DAQ-E accepts interchangeable snap-on caps that change how it sees light. Tell Chloros which cap is installed so it applies the correct correction profile.

| **Sunshine** (cosine corrector) | <180°         | Ambient / downwelling irradiance. Diffuses incoming light and reduces intensity so bright sources such as direct sunlight don't over-saturate the sensor. This is the default cap assumed by Chloros. |

Use the **Sunshine** cap when recording the ambient light spectrum to correct camera images, and a **field-of-view** cap when measuring the light reflected from an object or reference target.

## Waterproofing

The DAQ-E is **IP67 waterproof** and built for permanent outdoor installation — rain or shine. The Ethernet connection passes through a **field-serviceable waterproof cable gland**, which you can open and reseal yourself to route or replace the cable.

## Mounting

For ambient light monitoring, mount the DAQ-E where it has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky and orient the **Sunshine** cap upward to capture downwelling light. Keep the sensor clear of shadows, reflective surfaces, and nearby structures that could block or bounce light into the cap. Because power and data share one PoE cable, a single run of Ethernet is all that needs to reach the mounting location.
