Survey3 PRO - Power
When connecting Survey3 PRO to an external power source it is important to make sure that you provide enough current (amps), especially when using longer cable lengths.
Make sure to test your power adapters thoroughly to insure they can provide a stable supply. Not all power supplies are equal, so you may need to test various manufacturer's devices.
1
5.0-5.2V
1.35A
2
5.0-5.2V
3.0A
The above values are based on connecting to a DAQ-A. If you are not connecting to a DAQ-A then the power requirements may be less. If you use cables longer than 5m, then the power requirements may be more. Always try and use higher current-supporting power sources when possible.
Powering ON the Camera
There is no external power button on the Survey3 PRO. The camera will only power on when 5V power is connected to the bottom m12 cable port and the internal power switch is in the ON (O) position.
Powering OFF the Camera (Rear Door Closed)
The easiest way to power off the camera when the rear door is closed is to have the camera's WIFI turned on and to use our Android application Survey3 Control Application.
There is no external power button on the Survey3 PRO, so if the rear door is closed then you can only physically turn the camera off by disconnecting its power source.
If you remove the Survey3 camera and remove its internal battery, you can more easily turn the cameras on and off by directly controlling the power input at the m12 cable port. The power switch will need to be in the ON (O) position.
Powering OFF the Camera (Rear Door Open)
You can swipe down on the camera's rear LCD touchscreen and press the power icon to turn OFF the camera.
Switching the power switch to OFF (X) will disconnect the external power, but the camera contains an internal battery, so the camera will not turn off immediately. Removing the camera battery will allow the power switch to function normally.
You can turn Auto Off mode ON by setting a value other than OFF. For example, changing to 1 minute means that after 1 minute of not capturing images or the rear touch screen being touched, the camera will power off. This only works for timelapse scenarios when the sleep time is longer than the trigger interval.
