Process measurements from MAPIR light sensors

Opening Measurement Data

Select an input folder containing csv files from the DAQ-M. You can provide any number of csv files, either unedited irradiance (raw) or processed measurements containing irradiance + reflectance data.

Only measurements with unique "File Name" rows will be available in the Scan tab. The File Name is how you identify the measurement in MCC. You can easily edit the csv files if you want to duplicate or edit the measurement names.

If duplicate measurement File Name rows exist in the input folder then the last read measurement, and the one that contains irradiance + reflectance will be the one available.

When the data is finished loading the first measurement is displayed on the graph.

Read further below on how to add multiple layers (scan measurements or filter bars), enable Reflectance mode and add markers to the reflectance signatures.

Adjusting Graph Layers

When scan data is opened the first measurement is added to the graph. To open the graph layers window click the Layers button. A new small window will open. You can add more layers as desired:

Title:

Enter a custom title here which will be added to the top of the graph. The title will also be used in naming the exported data when saved.

Add Layer Button

Click the (+) Add Layer button to add a new layer to the layer panel below.

Layer Panel

The lower region of the window shows the current layers that exist, each represented by a row of buttons and drop-down options.

Layer Number

The layer number in the panel

Layer Visible Button

Toggle the eyeball visibility button to hide/show the layer on the graph.

Layer Type Drop-down

Choose the type of data to display:

  • Scan: a light sensor measurement from the input data

  • Filters: the transmission bands for the Survey3 filter options

Layer Type Name Drop-down

The options in the second drop-down depend on the layer type:

  • Scan: the File Name from the input measurement data

  • Filters: the name of the Survey3 camera filter

Layer Configuration Window Button

X Close Button

Deletes the layer and removes it from the graph and table

Layer Configuration Window

Line Color

The background color in the large line color button matches the color used for the plotted line on the graph. Clicking the large colored button brings up the color picking window. Select a color and the Ok button to update the line color.

Layer Reflectance Button

Toggle the layer reflectance button to apply reflectance correction to the irradiance measurement data.

Reflectance Target Model

Choose which model the scanned reference reflectance target was that you used.

Reflectance Scan Name

Choose the File Name for the measurement of the reflectance target. If the input data contained reflectance data that you want to use then chose the [FROM FILE] option in the reflectance scan name drop-down.

Shifting and Zooming on the Graph

Once data is plotted on the graph you can zoom in and out and the graph axis and view will adjust accordingly. Once zoomed in you can use the left/right arrows to shift the graph from side to side.

Line Markers

The line marker button places dots on every plotted measurement line. The dots are located within each of the Survey3 filter transmission bands. The dot represents the weighted average peak of the filter's transmission of light in that region of the spectrum. These marker locations more closely represent the average pixel intensity (irradiance/reflectance) of each image channel.

Reflectance Mode

Toggle the Reflectance Mode light bulb button from grey (disabled) to green (reflectance on, enabled) to red (reflectance off, disabled). When reflectance mode is off, the default irradiance mode is enabled.

Index (NDVI) Table

The "_1" and "_2" in the index formula names reference the NIR1 and NIR2 camera filters, meaning those NIR channels were used in that formula. "_1" for NIR1 and "_2" for NIR2.

Exporting/Saving Data

All visible data will be exported when the save button is pressed. If the layer has reflectance turned on then the exported data will include the reflectance data. The reflectance data will also be used to produce new values in the exports. The current graph plot and index table will also be saved. All files are named based on the graph title entered. See below for an example output.

When the main graph's is on, any visible measurement that has its own reflectance applied will also show up in the Scan Index table.

The Index Table processes each measurement scan at the weighted average locations shown by the . The marker data points are used in and the computed values are shown in the table.

The computed values shown should closely match the results you would obtain when using a for reflectance measurements.
